Hiya
The Polltax section of the forum was where it all started for me, when Lambeth Council unjustly set their bailiffs on my wife, a dozen years after the tax had been abolished.
Fortunately that sorry episode is behind us, but it is important that this forum exists to enable victims of the poll tax to voice their problems.
Please join the forum today.
Regards,
Matt |

| By the way, the old forum was located at www.polltax.co.uk/forum/ but we had to close it down because Russian Spambots destroyed it! |

I have great relations with LBC, although I wasn't aware they 'set the bailiffs' on people unfairly.
As I recall, the Bailiff intervention is only taken when people don't set up a payment plan after a liability order has been granted and at that only after all other attempts to advise payment options have been extinquished.
Lambeth isn't as draconian as the council I work for in london, we'll happily take you to court for owing us 50p !!! Yes JUST 50p!!!
Probably one of the more 'robust' councils but we do have an excellent track record on debt recovery, only the other week we were on a national programme on TV, Cops, Bailiffs and something else on BBC1. When you see peope with 37 parking tickets on a crappy BMW (on the councils top 50 cars for scrapping list) it makes you sick to think the very same people ring in and try and dodge the council tax as well.
